The 8th division had to defend the Northern entrance to the Central Area (Zentralraum) by holding the areas around Stans, Stansstaad and the Glaubenberg.
The infantry regiment 82 was given the task to defend Interlaken outside the area of the division. It was probably directly attached to the 3rd corps [need to check this].
