Task and Position

With the initial operationsbefehl No 12 the 6th division remained in the Limmatstellung between Zurich (incl) and Wettingen (excl). When the division was moved to the Central Area (Zentralraum), the line was covered by the 3rd light brigade.

In the Central Area (Zentralraum) the division had to defend the Northern entrance between the Rigi mountain - Zugerberg - Menzingen - Lake of Zurich.

Order of Battle

The division had four regiments, Inf Rgt 26 was detached to the 7th division. The regiment was re-attached, when the division moved to the central area and the Inf Rgt 27 was attached to the 8. Div.

The division had only two 75mm artillery batallions attached, but got additional artillery with older guns later (4 120mm, 36 84mm guns). The older guns remained with the 3. LBr which took over the Limmat position.

In his report of 17. September 1940 the general mentioned, that the division had been converted to mountain service and the appropriate material was being distributed.
