Swiss 5. Division - Operationsbefehl No 12 17.7.1940
[Task and Position] [Order of Battle]
The task of the 5th division was, to block the access from the North to the Aare valley between Olten (incl) and Aarau (incl) over the Hauenstein, the Wasserflue and the Staffelegg passes crossing the Jura mountains.
The division blocked each of the two main axis with two regiments behind each other and had assigned one artillery batallion to each of the regiments 23 and 24.

The 5. Div was heavily reinforced with three additional infantry regiments (two border regiments 47 and 51, and one territorial regiment 76) and had to give up one regiment (Inf Rgt 4) to group Brugg, but had only two artillery batallions atttached. Later the artillery was reinforced with batteries formed with older guns (4 120mm guns and 36 84mm guns).
