Swiss Reinforced Recce Bn 7 - Operationsbefehl No 12 17.7.1940
[Task and Position] [Order of Battle]
The recce batallion 7 (Aufkl Abt 7) was to cover the area between the border troops at the Rhine and the lake of Constance and the main line of defense running through the lake of Zurich, the Linth river and the Walensee. Later the 13th motorized Landwehr Dragoon batallion was attached from corps reserve.
The batallion formed three battle groups and a reserve to accomplish its task:

| Gruppe Toggenburg | Covered the area of Wil - Bütschwil (the entry to the Toggenburg) |
| Gruppe Säntis | Covered the area of Herisau - Gossau |
| Reserve | In the area of Wattwil |

To accomplish the task, the recce batallion 7 was reinforced with one additional cavalry troop, two additional bicycle companies, two motorized MG companies and two motorized anti-tank companies. With these reinforcements the battle group had the following strength (to compare with the strength of the light brigade which occupied the same area before):
