The 4th corps had to provide cover of the North Eastern border between Stein am Rhein and Sargans and the Eastern and South-Eastern border in the Grisons and to provide the 7. Div to cover the Northern approaches to the Central Alps.
The reinforced recce batallion 7 (worth 2 Bns with lots of anti-tank guns, but no artillery) took the place the 3rd Light Brigade left between the Linth - Walensee - Sargans line and the Northeastern border.
The group "Glarus" (which was later re-named "Glärnisch") was an independent brigade size (6 Inf Bns, 2 Art Bns) unit which covered the front between the 7. Div and the fortress of Sargans.
