Task and Position

With the order No 12 the first corps was given three tasks; the 1. Division, 10. Geb Br and the fortress St. Maurice were made an independent unit the 1st reinforced division:

1. to cover the border with three border brigades (1. Gz Br, 2. Gz Br, 3. Gz Br).
2. to cover the area of Neuchatel - Bienne (2. Div)
3. to cover the approaches towards Fribourg (L Div) .

With the order No 12 the line of defense was taken back a few dozen kilometers compared to the order number 10. This gave the corps enough time to get into the defensive positions after mobilization and before the enemy could reach them.

Order of Battle 17/24.7.40

The ad hoc Light division was formed using the three light brigades. At this initial stage no additional artillery was attached, although the corps artillery (sch mot Kan Rgt 12) located in the area of Berne could provide some support.
