1. Gebirgsdivision

The 1. Geb D had a central role in all attack planning during all of 1940 and early 1941, despite the fact, that the division was moved to Arras in August 1940 to prepare for Seelöwe (the planned invasion of Britain). In October 1940 the division was moved back to the Jura mountains (Besancon) again to train for the operation Felix (Occupation of Gibraltar). In April 1941 it was finally moved to Yugoslavia.

In November 1940 the 100. Geb IR was allocated to the new 5. Geb D.
