[Task and Position] [Order of Battle]
The division was subordinated to the 3rd Army Corps (3 AK). Its task was to defend the Limmat position bewteen the Division 1 on its right and the Division 5 (2nd Army Coprs - 2 AK) on its left. .
My knowledge on the actual position of the Division 8 is quite detailed thanks to the book [Limmat].

The Division 8 was a mountain division built up accordingly to the standard order of battle of 1938 (TO38). Its 4th artillery batallion was horse transportable for mountain operations.
The division was reinforced by
- One standard infantry regiment (Inf Rgt 81).
- One reinforced heavy artillery regiment (No 25).
- One heavy field gun batallion (No 43).
The following units were detached to the Light Brigade 2 (Leichte Brigade 2):
- The motorcycle company (Mot Rdf Kp 8)
- The motorized infantry
gun company (mot Ik Kp 8).
